Forgotten Sweetness is a thank you of the soft and gentle and tiny joys – morning cuppas, sweet bird song and the last rays of sun. Recorded over a few quiet summer days in Lutruwita/Tasmania, the collection features field recordings from the trees and creekside ecosystems at dusk and dawn. Environmental sounds were captured with an ambisonic microphone to include the fine details found in stillness. Though sound and murmured melody, the glimmers of brightness are remembered and held close.
The EP begins with “Forgotten,” a short instrumental interlude written for the tiny moments of joy uncelebrated or unacknowledged. The songs that follow are a noticing and a moment of gratitude for the small sweet moments found; morning sunlight through trees, winter mists, the voices of loved ones and the comforts of a wam mug of tea. The collection closes with “Remembered,” an answering instrumental that is a sonic memory of brightness and sweet moments.
